Jennifer's Baby Shower

So, it seems lately that I'm coming into contact with so many  new born miracles!  Remember Jennifer and Justin?  They recently had their first baby boy: Jaxon Hub!  He is just the most adorable baby!  I met up with Jennifer recently and Baby Jaxon was just a complete angel!  Anyways, the post this morning is on pre-Jaxon...Jennifer's baby shower!  Jen's sister, Olivia, actually coordinated the whole event!  I was just the little baker and helped out on desserts and food where I can.  Olivia and I agreed wholeheartedly that a dessert table was definitely the way to go!  I can definitely help there!  So while Olivia figured everything else out, I was left with doing the fun treats!

Check out my mustache for the afternoon!  It was super fun!  Olivia actually made these mustache for her "pin the mustache on the baby" game.  So, it was similar to "pin the tail on the donkey" but instead, she made this huge baby poster and we tried to attach the mustache onto baby's face!  Super creative and very, very cute! Courtney and Katie joined in on the mustache fun too!
We decided that the dessert table will be clean and simple.  I made some chocolate cupcakes, cake batter macarons (Jen's favorite flavor!) and the super simple cake!  Olivia made the chocolate dipped rice krispy treats (they were sooooo good!) and set out the beautiful glass mason jars for the beverages.
The new mommy and I.  I still can't believe Jaxon is here!  Congrats again to my lovely Jennifer and Justin.  I just know they will make fantastic parents and that Jaxon will forever be a sweetheart!

Evo and Chip

Oh helloooo Saturday!  I'm telling you, this week was extremely long.  It felt like it took a loooooong time to get to the weekend, yet, I can see my weekend dwindling away already and that Monday is just around the corner!  So, today will definitely be a nice relaxing day!  But I thought I'd leave y'alls with a blog post to start your weekend!  Today's post is about a pair of kitties.  Yes, that's right...cats.  I have a good friend, who I have known since middle school.  We went through our Sailor Moon phase in middle school (where I had tons of Sailor Moon trading cards that I would never, ever trade) and continued our friendship into and through high school.  Evo, well, her name is actually Evonne, but she is now forever known as Evo because she's cute like that, well, Evo, is this extremely talented and bright individual that I was blessed to have in my life.  You know, one of those crazy Asians who can play the piano with eyes closed, and wield a paintbrush and paint something extraordinary without even thinking about it.  And book smart.  She is definitely one super bright star!  Somewhere along the way, her family took in two cats.  And somewhere along the way, she met Chip.  Thus, becoming a pair of "cats."  They loved that pair of cat motif so much, they made it part of their wedding.  This is where I come in.  Evo and Chip had always been my number one fans!  So, they asked me to do a dessert table for their wedding up in the bay area.  I was delighted, of course, and couldn't wait for the day to come! And the day has finally come!
Evo and Chip actually had two wedding receptions.  They did one, with the dessert table, in the bay area.  It was a beautiful venue!  They also decided to give out a pair of macarons for their wedding favors.  Their color theme was red and white and they wanted a very simple, clean look.  I made cake pops, white chocolate dipped pizzelle cookies, rice krispy treats, macarons, and chocolate dipped strawberries for this dessert table.  This last picture of chocolate strawberries were for their San Diego reception.  This reception was held at The Pearl, and mainly consisted of family.  I decided to half dip these strawberries and drizzle chocolate instead of a full dip, since I knew most Asians don't do sweets.  This actually worked out beautifully, as it still looked gorgeous but with just a taste of chocolate.

I definitely had a blast doing Evo and Chip's wedding.  They were so organized, it made my job a whole lot easier!  Thanks you two love cats for giving me the privilege of being part of your special day!  Enjoy Europe!

Union Tribune Craft Fair

Whew!  It's the start of a new week!  Hope everyone enjoyed a safe and relaxing holiday weekend!  Mine was definitely anything but relaxing...and I had the gall to drag three others with me through my adventures!  Remember my previous posts saying I will be a vendor at the last 626 Night market for this year?  Yep, that was this past weekend.  It was a huge success and I cannot wait to share with you! But more about that in another post.  Today's post is on the Union Tribune craft fair I did a while ago.  I had an in to this craft fair, so I was able to sell my sweets there.  It was definitely a very good time and I had tons of exposure, even though it was open only to Union Tribune employees and families.  Check it out:
The inspiration for this table started with Starbucks coffee.  I thought it would be adorable to make mini Starbucks fraps...seeing as the people who work at UT probably end up guzzling a whole lot of coffee, whether it's hot coffee or an ice blended coffee.  Along with "fraps," I had to bring my macarons!  A table is never complete without French macarons after all.  I made a lot of flavors...and if I had written this post closer to the date I actually had this event, I probably would have a better chance remembering all the flavors I made!  I know I had cake batter (pictured above) and hazelnut, peppermint, pistachios, vanilla, cherry almond, and maple bacon.  I'm sure there's probably a few more flavors in there that I forgot about.  I even had Hello Kitty macarons too!  And these kitties even had ears!  I also decided to bring some fruit cobblers, each in its own mini pie tin.  Lastly, there was also good old fashioned chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal cookies.  It was a great success that afternoon!  I even had macaron virgins who decided that macs were definitely an "it" cookie!  They tried one mac and came back down for more before I closed down for the day!
I made blueberry, cherry, and apple cobblers for this event.  They were pretty popular and definitely very yummy!!  I also made two types of "fraps"...caramel and mocha!  Are they not adorable??  These were chocolate cupcakes, filled with either a mocha chocolate mousse or caramel mousse, topped with whipped cream, and drizzled with chocolate or caramel.  Don't forget that green straw!  Along with a pastry...it's time to get back to work for those UT employees!  I definitely can't wait for the next one and hope to be invited back!  Thanks for peeking dear readers!
